Corrections Policy

Factual errors

When we get a fact wrong — a name, a fee, a date, a club, a score, a contract detail — we correct it as soon as we are aware of it. Minor errors such as spelling or grammar are simply fixed. Where the error was significant enough to have changed a reader's understanding of the story, the article carries an updated timestamp so it is clear the piece has been changed after publication.

Significant updates

Football stories move quickly. When a story we have published develops — a reported deal is completed or collapses, an injury diagnosis changes, a club issues a statement — we either update the original article or publish a new one covering the development. Updated articles show an "Updated" time alongside the original publication time.

Corrections

A correction changes the substance of what we reported. In those cases we amend the article so it is accurate, rather than leaving an incorrect claim online. We do not silently delete a story to hide a mistake, and we do not rewrite a claim to pretend it was never made.

Outdated information

Stories that have been overtaken by events are reviewed. Where an article no longer reflects the situation, it is updated, superseded by newer coverage, or retired if it can no longer offer accurate value to readers. Retired URLs return a standard not-found response rather than redirecting readers to unrelated content.

Reader-reported errors

If you believe something we have published is inaccurate, please tell us. Use our contact page and include:

• the headline or link to the article
• the specific claim you believe is wrong
• what you understand to be correct, and a source if you have one

Every correction request is read and assessed against our Editorial Policy. Where a request is upheld, the article is corrected. Where it is not, that is because we have checked the claim and believe the original reporting stands.
